A six-year-old girl died after the e-rickshaw she was travelling in collided with a car and overturned near the Janakpuri Fire Station, Delhi Police said.
The accident occurred on February 17, 2026, and has once again put the spotlight on road safety and on bystanders’ response in the capital’s residential areas, where traffic moves through narrow stretches, and emergencies can turn fatal within minutes.

‘She stopped three or four vehicles, but no one stopped’
The girl’s mother, who works at a hospital, said she learnt about the accident through a colleague.
“One of our staff members was going to the same area after her night duty. She told me that in an emergency, a rickshaw overturned, and one lady was asking for help from everyone. She stopped three or four vehicles, but no one stopped. After that, when a girl saw the overturned rickshaw, she and another boy together took the child to the hospital. After that, someone else took our mother to the hospital,” she said on Thursday.
